Ladiespalooza 2013

Today is the start of my favorite trip of the year – my all girls LADIESPALOOZA trip!

As I mentioned here we have an amazing house in Palm Springs we are going to this year. I can see it now…floppy hats, vintage swimmies, lovely ladies, and fruity cocktails. Bliss!

Here is this year’s roster:

Here is a look at LADIESPALOOZA’s past:

(After this trip we decided this group of gals are NOT campers)

Had a great visit with LOLA and her parents over the 4th of July weekend. Britt brought her family down for a whole 5 days! We had a blast going to the beach, the park, and just hanging around the house. It’s insane how cute LOLA is, we love getting to spend time with her. It was hard to see them go home, I wish they lived closer so we could do fun stuff like this all the time!

While they were here I hosted a Doughnut and Mimosa “sip and see” so that they would have a chance to see some of their other local friends.

LOLA’s 2nd Birthday: Minnie Mouse Clubhouse Style

We recently got back from our trip to visit our god-daughter LOLA for her 2nd birthday! My best friend Brittany did an amazing job compiling supplies and crafting elements for the party. She delegated a few things to me and her Mom and we all pitched in to set up this very pink party. LOLA loves Minnie Mouse and had so much fun seeing all her favorite friends.

Let’s start with the decor:

Again, this was the invite I made for the party – we blew it up and made a big poster.

Pink, Black and White Poms were ordered from Express Poms on Etsy.

I made a ton of printables to stick around the house.

The Gift Table

Britt made these awesome sparkly mason jars to hold all the flowers.

I arranged the flowers and Britt’s mom made these amazing Mini heads.

Brittany makes some super fun garlands, you must check out her shop:

Variety Pack Set of 4 Minnie Mouse Felt Garlands

The photo op area turned out really cute too, Brittany took a bunch of different colored crepe paper and fringed/twisted it to make the backdrop.

The Food

Britt wanted to keep it simple so she served lots of snack options, a make your own sandwich type bar and some crockpots with Mac N’ Cheese.

And check out these adorable cupcakes!

The Drinks

The drink table had two kinds of pink lemonade, one for adults and one for kiddos [that were carefully labeled]!

Britt had planned tons of fun activities for the guests including: Cookie decorating, pin the bow on the Minnie, a coloring table, and a make your own Minnie bow headband station.

Britt made one of her famous thumbprint guest sign in pages:

Hand Drawn Ink Guest Book Art: Birthday Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse with Balloons

The Birthday Girl

Other fun pics

All in all it was a super fun day!

Dov Designs

My bestie Britt has expanded her Etsy shop and has added all kinds of fun new designs and a new product, these felt garlands:

St. Patricks Day Shamrock Felt Garland (multicolored)

Rainbow Felt Heart Garland

She has gotten really creative with the thumb print guest sign-in artwork here are just a few of my favorite’s from her new collection:

The “Getting Old Is A Challenge” Neon birthday party

So I turned 29 this week, officially living in my 30th year. Since I was going to be up in Sacramento visiting my bestie we decided to throw a big party and get lots of our friends to come visit. I came up with this theme – Getting Old Is A Challenge- based on the idea that we would play a series of minute to win it type games.

We decided to neon-ize this party just because we love neon and make it sort of an Olympics based concept – so we would have a podium and medals, etc. Most of that happened but the reality was we were having to much fun to really take the whole game thing really seriously. Let’s take a look at some of the decor we used:

First up was the baked potato bar wall centerpiece.  I found a quote I liked and made a print online for the focal point then I came up with this idea to use crepe paper and make a flower boarder to anchor it.

Brittany made me a beautiful coconut cake that matched.

Oh and these cupcakes.

Here was the winners podium/photo backdrop we made.  Brittany is an art teacher and so we used some of her kids’ artwork to pull it all together.

I don’t have many pictures of me and my friends yet, they are on another camera so that might end up being a separate post. But here are a just a few:

(Bianca’s new little guy Noah)

Thanks Britt for everything, it was a blast!

Here is a look at some of the other printables from the party:

A Baby-Q Shower for Bianca and Justin

My BFF Brittany along with a few other friends and fam threw a shower for our friends Bianca and Justin last weekend.

Bianca went in to labor 2 months early and little Noah Cox is still building his strength at the hospital (read their birth story here and grab a kleenex). Don’t worry it has a happy ending, which is why there was a lot to celebrate at the shower!

Photo: Thanks for the cool hats, Morgan Ake-Earley!Britt did an amazing job pulling all the details together and I was lucky enough to be asked to contribute with some custom printables for the party.  Here’s a look:

If you’ve followed this blog then you already know that Britt sells these in her amazing Etsy shop: DOV Designs

LOLA was there, looking as cute as ever.

Congrats to the Cox family and bravo Britt for pulling of this fabulousness.

Here are the printables if you ever want to use them.

Event Envy: Travel Themed Baby Shower

You guuuuuuys! I am super excited to show off the shower my best friend Brittany put together (with the help of her amazingly talented party throwing Mom) for her sister Kelley.

They chose a travel theme because Kelley and her hubs Roger have a love for roaming the globe.  They hosted the event at their Mom’s house and created food stations out of Kelley and Roger’s favorite destinations. Take a look:

They used lots of old suitcases around the house to bring the travel theme full circle.

Love all the colorful lanterns…I’m such a sucker for rainbow colors.

I love a good photo-op and I think it has rubbed off on Brittany, so proud of this display she came up with.

They also set out these vintage postcards from other places the Kelley and Roger have traveled on some of the tables around the house.

This is a super fun uni-sex shower game where you try to sculpt the baby, people can get really creative with this…and perverted so be careful.

The parents choose the 1st and 2nd place winners.

Brittany does these amazing tree-guest book things, she draws them by hand – I am harassing her to open an Etsy shop.

Nice work gals! And congrats to Kelley and Roger!!

Event Envy:Vintage Tea Party

Wedding season is in full swing, I have 4 bridal showers coming up! I spotted this little beaute the other day and thought it looked divine.  A tea party is a super sweet and classy theme for a shower not to mention easy to execute.  I especially love the potted flower favors they came up with.

Event Envy: French Party Envy

Clearly I love parties (duh). And you may or may not know that I love all things French. So when I found this AMAZING party and then started to read the site, I quickly realized it was all in French and I was floored. Not only is this party absolutely fabulous but it is FRENCH!!!! I’m in love.  I wish I could tell you more details about it but my love for all things French has not lead me to learn the language…as of yet.

If I had to take a wild guess I would say it is some kind of dessert tasting party.

This totally worth checking out.

Event Envy: In the Forrest Baby Shower

Seen on Bump Smitten, this baby shower takes the cake.  When I saw the first few images I felt like I was entering some kind of fairy tale dream.  I love the muted colors throughout and the kitschy little animals everywhere, especially the elephant with the party hat.

Love the idea of hanging the poms vertically like this!

Event Envy: A Colorful 2nd Birthday

Ugh. This child is simply so cute!

This fantastic Birthday Party was found on On To Baby, and it is the most to say the least! (Grease anyone??)

“Photographer Jen Rodriguez crafted a bright, happy party to celebrate Cayden’s 2nd birthday that is bursting with a vibrant color palette of pink, turquoise, orange and yellow. Jen used a mix of vintage pieces and colorful floral design from April Flowers to create a fun, eclectic space. Instead of traditional tables, they used old vintage carts with a mix of chairs, while a variety of vintage props, including cake stands, frames, and chalkboards can be found in the decor. For the main focal point, Jen created an eye-catching backdrop for the party with strips of inexpensive, solid fabric that she hung from the ceiling. Another DIY touch we love is that number 2 sign made up of buttons. So cute! To see more of this darling party, stop by the full gallery.” – On To Baby

Event Envy: A Sweet 16 Luncheon

I love the idea of a Sweet 16. Not the kind MTV shows but the kind where you get together with your best friends and do something grown up to signify your new “maturity”.

Becoming a “Lady who Lunches” seems like a grown up thing to do and I just love this cozy set up:

Event Envy:Adorable 2nd Birthday Party

Coming off all the festivities from LOLA’s 1st birthday last weekend I thought it only fitting to feature this adorable 2nd birthday I found on Somewhere Splendid’s blog. The birthday girl was Lila and her Mom put on a fantastic spread for her little shin dig. Let’s take a look:

Be sure to check out the link above to see more pics.

A 60th Birthday Dinner

The day before the big party we threw for LOLA Brittany and I also put together an intimate dinner to celebrate her MOM Candy, you may recall I mentioned this last week. We knocked off this amazing table by Say Yes to Hoboken (i think…damn pinterest sourcing!).

Pinned Image

Here is our finished product:

We clipped peacock feathers to the name tags and some quotes I had printed out that reminded us of Candy. Then when we all sat down to dinner we all went around reading our quotes to her, it was a fun personal touch.

Event Envy: This wedding venue is rad!

I stopped cold in my tracks when I saw this on Pinterest this week, this wedding turned out gorgeous! I am in love with the venue, it is does elegant/rustic/romantic perfectly.

tying the knot invitationmismatched bridesmaids

I love how she let all her bridesmaids just be themselves for the wedding, yet somehow it totally works.

And the way this bride accessorized and dressed down the gown is adorable. Personally I tend to lean more toward glamming things up but on her this works.
