Add a Little Flare

As I mentioned last week I have been a busy bee working on all the details for the New Year’s Eve bash I am throwing my best friend and her Fiance for their Bachelor/Bachelorette party.  I recently finished all the drink stir sticks and food flare (ooo “food flare” I just made that up!)and I am so pleased with the final product.  Here let me show you:

I found these great sparkly Styrofoam balls at Michael’s for $4.99 each.

I was also able to find plain wood “stir sticks” at Joanne’s.

Look up close, these – aren’t they pretty!

I was able to just stab the balls with the wood picks without even having to glue them, it was super easy. I used the smaller sized balls for the food flare with some pointed food picks I found at Cost Plus (you can also find these at the craft store).

I also made some stir sticks out of tinsel garland that I bought at the Dollar Store.  The garland has some thin wire running through it so all I had to do was cut off a 6 inch section and wrap it tightly around the stick (you could add glue on the stick for extra hold if you want).

I also had found some fun, fuzzy and sparkly poms that I hot glued on stir sticks too.

If feel like it just wouldn’t be a party if there wasn’t any fun striped paper straws so I added a few of those in there also.  I ordered these from Shop Sweet Lulu’s, printed out my own labels (using some cardstock)and simply applied double sided tape to create the flags.

While rummaging through my craft room (aka the garage) I also found some old valentines decorations that I hot glued to some larger sticks to use as photo props:

I had fun making all this stuff and I can’t wait to see it in use!
